I was skating badly at the Oakland Ice Center and wearing some antlers that belonged to my now-dead dog, when I noticed a girl, about nine years of age, standing in the door of one of the birthday rooms and waving wildly. I realized she was waving at me. She pointed at her antlers. I waved back and pointed at my antlers. I gave her a peace sign. She gave me a peace sign back.
